It’s all about the light, and I loved the way the afternoon light split into blue and gold planes in this white peony. White flowers can take on such an array of colours and tones and I enjoy recreating those colours which often require several layers of different colour to develop the effect.
I went searching for a way to describe this gold and blue phenomenon and I discovered that the terms golden hour and blue hour refer to the times of day when these colours are most prevalent in the light spectrum.
